Learning Materials

We have been finding out about the history of people with learning disabilities in the region.

We have a project group

and we meet to discuss the project and the information we’ve found out about.

The project group makes decisions about what

information we use, and

about the design ideas for the Timeline and the website.

People with learning disabilities often used to

live in long stay hospitals.

There were 3 hospitals in

the local region where people with learning disabilities  from this area used to live.

Coldharbour Hospital,

which was in Sherborne.

Coldeast Hospital, which

was in Sarisbury Green near Southampton and Fareham.

Tatchbury Mount Hospital which was near Southampton.

We made a Timeline about the history of people with learning disabilities, and how things have changed over the years.

This has been made into an exhibition.

An exhibition is a display showing information and pictures.

When the Timeline

exhibition had been made, we

took it on tour around

the county of Dorset.

The Timeline will also be

on the website, on the Timeline page.

Keep checking back to

see when there’s more information online!
